An old vacant
corner store, a clubhouse, a serious gallery, a social experiment, a
room with four walls and a radiator CORNERSHOP existed at 82 Lafayette
Avenue in Buffalo, NY from 1997-2000. Poems were read there, performances
were made, paintings, drawings, and prints were shown, installations
were installed, music was played, videos and films were projected, and
beer was always one dollar. It was international, it was local, it was
small time with big-names and big time with no-names.
This website
is an attempt to share the record in the hope that someone, somewhere
might look at it and decide to start his or her own place. Or just enjoy
the site and don't start anything. That's ok too.
